How to Stay Calm When the Cupboard is Empty

After leaving Egypt, the Israelites traveled in the desert, for 40 years and every day they received manna, the Miracle food, it was made specifically for each person even the amount was exactly as each individual needed.

The manna was of the best quality, it could taste anything they liked, even their favorite snack but there was one problem: they could not store it overnight, if stored, it would rot.

Just imagine… if God gave them the best quality food, in the right portions for their needs, with the taste they wanted, why couldn’t it be stored for the next day?

Because they were under a slavery mentality, they had experienced prolonged trauma, they had been slaves for 210 years with a mindset of constant lack and fear.

What was on their minds was, "What if I don't have anything to eat tomorrow?" God loved the Israeli people so much that every day He led and trained their faith (bitachon).

Sleep at night with nothing in the cupboard, no blankets and every morning, see what they need is available and but don't I have to think about tomorrow? Isn't that a responsible action?

Yes, but before that, the basic thing we must understand is to plan for tomorrow by enjoying today's blessings.

God wants to give us unlimited goodness and He can give us everything, but we must be open to receive it, we may put the sweetest fruit in our mouth, but we must be open to taste the sweetness

The blessings we have are not blessings until we can enjoy them and realize from whom they come, when we take a breath, knowing that there is an infinite God who always watches over us.

Then we can organize, relax, then we can organize, relax, then we can process all the good and accept it all, is my worry useful for planning tomorrow.

Hashem’s mindset is for my good, I will not be afraid and from there I can make clear and structured choices for the future and can we recognize the “manna” that is given to us today?

If we can recognize our blessings, meaning we are building our ship to enjoy tomorrow, do we realize, God can give us a family, a car, a house, and a job, and we may not enjoy all of it.

No matter how good things are right now, the worry of tomorrow steals our attention and makes us afraid.

That's why in the desert, God took away the Israelites' safety zone, their comfort zone, He didn't let the manna last overnight and every night, God said, today I will give you what you need.

Now my child go to bed, let go of all burdens and believe, the Israelites repeated this for 40 years, as a result the abundance mindset became part of their spiritual DNA, after the trauma of slavery they experienced.

Take a moment and notice how the blessings we need today are here today, what about tomorrow? Our worries come back.

Be still and know that our true security is our relationship with God and that is a security we can always have.
